Talton Lodge Wedding Photography – Claire & Will

Claire and Will’s tipi wedding was held at Talton Lodge near Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. It’s a beautiful venue in Newbold on Stour with plenty of outdoor space and a tipi setup for the wedding breakfast and evening dancing.

DIY Wedding

Both Claire and Will are engineers and love to make things… so pretty much all of the details were made by them. The giant Jenga, the backgammon board, the giant light up letters, the photo booth and even their rings! Their wedding also had all types of weather, there was rain, it was overcast and grey, there was sunshine AND even a nice sunset.

They had an outdoor ceremony, although sheltered under an open sided marquee – just as well they had cover as the heavens opened towards the end of the ceremony with a massive down pour. As the weather wasn’t playing ball at the time, the drinks reception started inside Talton House. As soon as the rain stopped, we popped outside for some family group shots and confetti. Then Claire and Will led a procession through to the walled garden where the tipi, the bar and plenty of lawn games were waiting.

Food was first before some great heartfelt speeches. Then it was back outside for more drinks and some evening sun before it was time for the big cake cutting reveal. Will had created a system that automatically cuts the cake for them, powered by them using their rings to create a circuit. Definitely the first time I’d seen something this creative to cut the cake!

Then it was on to their first dance and the band to start their first set. As I’m sure many photographers are, I was very excited about the sunset after all the rain earlier so we took Claire and Will off for a few portraits before heading back to the dance floor – my favourite place to be at a wedding!

We finished with a night time shot of Claire and Will with the light up letters they made. What a wedding!
