When I first met Hayley and Tom, they said that they wanted to get married near Kenilworth Castle… their solution was to find out who owned a field, with amazing views, near the castle and ask if they could have their wedding reception there. Genius!
On the morning of the wedding, I started the day by joining Hayley, her bridesmaids, her flower girl and her mum at a beautiful little lodge tucked away in the village of Beausale, in the Warwickshire countryside. It was a lovely sunny start to the day and everyone seemed relaxed and excited about he day ahead.
A Church Wedding
The ceremony was held at St Nicholas Church in Kenilworth, just the other side of Abbey Fields to Kenilworth Castle. I left For the church before Hayley so I could be there for when she arrived. I had time to pop in a say hello to Tom before the wedding car arrived – he seemed pretty calm but I imagine a mess of nerves inside as he waited at the front of the church.
Kenilworth Castle Wedding
After the lovely ceremony, as is tradition, Hayley and Tom were covered in confetti before leaving the church for their drinks reception. In a field perfectly overlooked by Kenilworth Castle, they had a stunning marquee set up with clear windowed sides to let in plenty of light. The weather had turned a bit blowy by this point so guests went inside to enjoy some drinks and canapes.
We had some time to shoot a few family group shots and do a few shots of the happy couple together before it was time for their wedding breakfast to start. Food was served in between speeches while outside it rained, the sun came out, disappeared again, and then finally came out again just in time for an evening walk to do some portraits of Hayley and Tom.
Delicious Wedding Food
When we got back to the marquee, Carlos from Las Tapitas was cooking up some paella ready to feed everyone later in the evening – it smelt incredible… and later on it tasted incredible!
Hayley and Tom had chosen not to have a first dance so after the cake cutting their band, The McKeens, started and friends and family headed to the dance floor for a boogie. We stayed to capture some dance moves before finishing the day with a night shot of the bride and groom in front of the marquee.
