I first met Harriet and Moritz at their friends Jo & Dave’s wedding at Mallory Court in Leamington Spa a couple of years ago. Harriet was one of Jo’s bridesmaids! Although it rained a fair bit on that day it was a fantastic day and everyone was really friendly.
Then last year I received an email from Harriet and Moritz saying they were looking for a photographer for their wedding and I came recommended by Jo and Dave. After meeting up and having a chat about their wedding plans, they booked me for their day… and a pre-wedding shoot which we did earlier this year!
Although they live in Leamington Spa, their wedding was in Suffolk at the stunning Hengrave Hall near Bury St Edmunds. They chose the venue because it was near Harriet’s family and, well, because it’s a great venue!
I stayed over in a hotel nearby the night before to avoid any chance of being stuck in traffic miles away from the venue. On the morning of the wedding I drove over to All Saints Hotel in Fornham St Genevieve where Harriet was getting ready with her bridesmaids… wearing dress number one! They had a lovely intimate legal ceremony first with only Harriet, Moritz and their parents before going and getting to changed for a blessing in the church of St John Lateran with the rest of their guests. The church is on the same grounds and right next to Hengrave Hall.
A drinks reception followed in the gardens and we took Harriet & Moritz for a few photos of the two of them together before the wedding breakfast started. After the food and speeches there was time to do a few more evening photos with Harriet and Mortiz before there first dance. I loved there first dance… it started off all romantic to Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love and then there was a tempo change as it moved into The Beatles’ Twist and Shout and they both went crazy – it was so good!
