Winter Wedding Photography – Claire & Niall

I was really looking forward to some winter wedding photography at Claire and Niall’s wedding. Their wedding was at the beautiful Warwickshire wedding venue, Mallory Court, in Leamington Spa. After meeting Claire and Niall when they first got in touch, and again a few weeks prior to their wedding, I’d seen that they are such genuine and down to earth lovely people, so I knew their wedding would be a great day. It had also been a while since I’d been to Mallory Court so it was amazing to be back there to shoot another wedding.

Claire and Niall, along with a lot of their friends and family, stayed over at Mallory Court the night before the wedding so in the morning everyone was all in the same place avoiding any potential travel stresses. I started off the day with Claire, her mum and her bridesmaids preparing for the day ahead. I also popped in to see Niall and his groomsmen during the morning to get a few shots of them before they headed down to meet and greet the guests. They were conveniently getting ready just over the opposite side of the building.

Their intimate wedding ceremony was held in the original manor house. It was a lovely ceremony, full of smiles and laughter! The drinks reception was inside where there were comfy sofas and open fires. Although it was nice enough weather for the time of year, it was still pretty cold outside so everyone was enjoying the warmth inside. We did go out for some family photos and also for a few shots of Claire and Niall together before they were called for their wedding breakfast.

There was a bit of a gap in the afternoon as they had originally planned on watching the rugby. Their wedding wasn’t long before the lockdown due to Covid-19 and the rugby had unfortunately been cancelled. So they had the brilliant idea of setting up a Nintendo Wii for some afternoon entertainment. This made for some great photos!

A little bit later on, Claire and Niall had their first dance which was followed by a fun dance floor with guests joining in. One of the things about my work that initially grabbed Claire and Niall’s attention was my evening couple images. So we made time for a few images during a break from the dance floor.

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph their wedding!
